I’ve come across this beta thing for this, and now you log-in via Google. I dont’post in here much these days, as I prefer to be using my own hosted blog at http://theeye.kimjac.com
Chatham Traction Bus Company had been formed around 1930 when the towns tram network was dismantled. They had been owned by British Electric Traction (BET) but subsequently BET sold the undertaking to The Maidstone & District Motor Services Ltd, with the proviso that the company would be operated as a distinct and seperate concern for at least 25 years. This is what indeed did happen, and it wasn't until 1955 that the brown and cream vehicles finally disappeared from Medway's Streets. They had been based at the former Luton Road Depot, and had largely mimicked the old tram routes, such as the route from The Strand, Gillingham to Borstal (after the demise of Chatham Traction this route still operated for many years under the auspices of M&D as the 145, with a branch from this to Cookham Wood running as the 146). Most of the former Chatham Traction routes actually hung on until deregulation in 1986. Tags: buses, medway, chatham traction, UK
OK, I’ve updated this to the latest version 2.05. Also I’ve updated the template. I was using plaintxt1.4 but as there’s a new one out supporting widgets I’ve updated that too.
I’ve added a number of widgets too. You can send me a FREE SMS text message right from the sidebar now. SMS spam? Well, no! I can block unwanted numbers, and I silence my phone at night, so the idiots out there won’t disturb my beauty sleep. As I get unlimited text messaging on my cellphone package, it could prove to be a useful feature. Time will tell of course.
I’ve also added a video plug-in, and a podcast plug-in so watch out for some of those soon. Netiher of the plug-ins make the darn things for you of course!
I’ve added RSS feeds to the sidebar as well. ITOTD carries news snippets, and I’ve added Slashdot too – news with a techie slant.
