I saw the concert the other evening that this clip is posted from. The DVD lasts almost two hours, and goes through the whole range of John’s songs. It’s from the Wildlife Concert which was recorded in 1995.

IN the introduction Patsy comments that she hopes she’ll have that much energy when she gets to 83. Unfortunately, Patsy didn’t make 33. If she’d been alive now, she’d be a grandmother of 74.

Always does it for me, and this video is the best version too. It somehow captures the era so well, better than any re-made 80’s color version ever does. Perhaps that’s because it’s the definitive contemporary take. It’s a song of inspiration and hope and love.
