Get to the root of the problem. When I worked on the railroad, we were taught to always follow set procedures. It’s stood me well in the world of IT as well. Even a few minutes scribbling down a quick flow chart, can quickly lead you to the root of the issue.
You don’t have to know the answer to everything, but you need to be able to ask the people that do know, or that knows someone that knows.
Never ever panic. Remember that two heads are always better than one. Ask for help from those around you, your peers, your bosses, and your sub-ordinates. Sometimes, it’s jsut a case of not being able to see the wood for the trees, or simply needing a different viewpoint, or have someone one the outside looking in, metaphorically speaking.

On this day, as well it being the 41st Anniversary of England’s first and, so far, only win of the World Cup, 1973 saw the end of the 11 year long Thalidomide case, in which the victims were awarded some twenty million pounds (approx US$40 million).

1991 saw the Italian tenor Pavorotti celebrate 30 years in opera with a huge, free concert in Hyde Park.
