11.30.07Evel Knievel DiesEvel Knievel, the hard-living motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69. Knievel's death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs. Knievel had a liver transplant in 1999 after nearly dying of hepatitis C, probably contracted through a blood transfusion after one of his bone-shattering tumbles.

11.30.07Clear OutToday out goes this old hard drive. It was a bargain when I bought it - a factory refurb - but at today's prices it would seem ridiculously expensive, as hard drive prices continue to tumble. It was a decent size then too, but I'd not normally buy anything less than a 500GB one now - it's about the best price point at the moment anyhow.

11.30.07CrazinessI've always believed that while national pride is good, and quite natural, when it borders on racism, it's going to far. I very much try to treat everyone, wherever they are from, equally. I do, however, feel that when you visit, live or work in another country, you should try your best to follow the customs and culture of that country, at least publicly, so as not to offend your hosts. 11.29.07Clear OutToday this monitor is going to the trash. It doesn't work. It's not that old but it gave up the ghost a few months ago, and it's been sitting here gathering dust. Perhaps I should quit buying "bargain" stuff.
