It was the first one I’ve been to in these parts. I achieved two things at once this evening too. I always wanted to check out Bowens Island Restaurant, even before it burnt to the ground in 2006, and I thought it was about time that I got to meet some of the other bloggers around these parts too.
Bowens Restaurant was like nowhere I’ve ever been before, but the staff were friendly, and the oysters, fresh caught today, and hot and steaming kept coming. I didn’t make the mistake of filling up on saltines, but simply kept eating those wonderful oysters, with a slurp of cold beer – a Newcastle Brown actually.
It was good to meet some new people. Heather Solos organized the meeting, and there were nine of us there altogether. I know I should have made some notes, because I can’t remember anyone’s names, except for Heather, and Eugene, who is tackling the oysters in the photo.
One might think that a bloggers meet would be all geeky tech talk, but you’d be wrong. Not for us the finer intracacies of RSS feeds, or exaggerations of Google Adsense based revenue streams. Oh no, we talked about such topics as rats in restaurants (not the one we were eating in, I’ll hasten to add), and dog doo in the the family dining room.
Still it was a fun evening, and one both myself and Kathy will be looking forward to repeating again, some time in the near future. We’ll also be going back to Bowens Island Restuarant again very soon too.
