Kenneth McKellar, tenor singer,  who was well known in Scotland, and indeed around the world for his adaptions of traditional Scottish songs, particularly those of Robert Burns, has died at his daughters home in the United States.

Mr McKellar was 82. His death came very quickly, only a week after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

He made numerous television appearances, and he represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1966.

He also made classical recordings such as Handel’s Messiah.

Teddy Pendergrass, who started his musical career with Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, before going onto a hit solo one in the mid 1970′s, has died at the age of 59.

Known for his soulful, but forceful vocal style, he was also an inspiration to many after ending up in a wheelchair after being partly paralysed in a car wreck in 1982.

He had recently undergone surgery and treatment for colon cancer.

Arnold Stang, who was the voice behind cartoon character Top Cat, from the show of the same name, has died of pneumonia aged 91.

Top Cat was a very popular children’s cartoon series in the 1960′s and was syndicated worldwide.

Arnold was in the 1963 film ‘It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World’

Arnold also voiced many other cartoons, and voice overs for advertisements.

His last screen role was in Dennis The Menace in 1993.

He leaves a widow, JoAnne Stang, to whom he was married for 60 years.

Kim Peek,  The  real Rain Man, which inspired the film, starring Dustin Hoffman, , has died of a heart attack aged 58. He had a photographic memory, and could read a books page in ten seconds flat. He could even read both pages at once; the left one with his left eye, and the right one with his right eye.

He was born autistic,  and not much was known about autism back in the 1950′s.  His parents were advised to have him locked up in a mental institution.

Although he went on to become expert in fifteen different topics, he had practically no motor skills at all, and couldn’t even dress himself.

He lived with his fater, who took care of him. Check out the video below

Richard Todd, who was a World War Two hero, and one of the first soldiers to parachute into France on D-Day has died at the age of 90.

Best known for his starring role in the film adaption of Paul Brickhill’s Dambusters, he also starred in ‘The Longest Day’, ‘Stage Fright’, and ‘The Big Sleep’.

He was also in four episodes of Doctor Who during the 1980’s

He was nominated for an Oscar in 1950, while working opposite the then future US President, Ronald Reagan.

He suffered personal tragedy when two of his sons committed suicide. He had four children in total, two from each of his two marriages.

Edward Woodward OBE, who played many roles on television and in film, has died at the age of 79, according to his agent.

He starred in such series as Callan and The Equalizer, and Common as Muck and in movies such as The Wicker Man, and Breaker Morant.

He had three children and was married to Michele Dotrice.

Farrah Fawcett, who was probably best known for her role in the 1970’s US TV series ‘Charlie’s Angels’ has died in Los Angeles at the age of 62, with her long-term partner Ryan O’Neal at her bedside.

Her illness was documented in ‘Farrah’s Story’ earlier this year.

She had a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which she received in 1995.

She was, at one time, married to Lee Majors, who was ‘The Six Million Dollar Man’

Dom DeLuise, the actor, died in his sleep yesterday suffering from kidney failure, and respiratory problems. It is believed that his heart exploded due to his huge size.

He mostly appeared in comic  movie parts, such as The Cannonball Run, and All Dogs Go To Heaven, although he’s perhaps best known for being a regular in many of Mel Brookes movies such as ‘Blazing Saddles’ and ‘Robin Hood: Men in Tights”.

He was also a keen cook, and was an author of several cookbooks.

Randy Cain has died at his home in Maple Shade, N.J. at the age of 63.

He was one of the founder members of The Delfonics, who had hits like ‘Didn’t I blow Your Mind This Time”, which won a Grammy in 1970, and “La La Means I Love You”.

Wendy Richard, whose UK Television career spanned many years, but was best known for her role as Pauline Fowler in BBC’s Eastenders, has died, this morning  at the age of 65.

She was in the BBC sit-com The Newcomers from 1965 to 1969, but is more well known for her part in ‘Are You Being Served’  the 1970′s UK sitcom in which she played Miss Shirley Brahms.

She also appeared in two of the famous “Carry On’ comedies.

In 2000 she was appointed an MBE.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in the 1990′s and again in 2002, and she died at the Harley Street Clinic, with her husband at her bedside, where she was being treated, once again,  for breast cancer.
