The Berkeley Area Gardens Clubs will present the 4th annual Breath of Spring Flower Show at Cypress Gardens March 9-11, 2011. The Theme for the show is “The Magic of Movies” The show will feature daffodils, camellias and floral designs inspired by movie titles. A number of movies have been made at Cypress Gardens including “The Patriot” ,”Swamp Thing” ,“The Notebook” and “North and South”.
The public may enter blooming cut flowers, shrubs and potted plants on Tuesday March 8 from 8 a.m to 11a.m. Please see the rules for entering and other information at https://sites.google.com/site/ourflowershow/ .

The show will open to the public from 10-4 on Wednesday and Thursday and 9-2 on Friday.

The State newspaper reports today that Gov. Mark Sanford has traveled to Washington, D.C., today to try to convince officials to reverse a decision not to open the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste facility in Nevada.

Now, come on. Did Mr. Sanford really go to D.C? Last time he was connected with mountains, he’d legged it in the opposite direction.

Come along and work with other freelancers. There is a comfortable modern environment to work in, with free wi-fi.

The idea is to give freelance workers (and anyone else that wants to drop in) a place to work, and collaborate, and share ideas.

There’s a $10 fee, which will be used for the benefit of the group; to grow, and to buy necessary equipment, and pay for any ongoing costs. The group will be set up as a non-profit.

There will be a review meeting at 4pm, which is free, and at which all are welcome to attend.

The Palmetto Acoustic series is held at Muddy Waters Coffee Bar in Charleston, South Carolina. We all met up at Bessingers BBQ on Savannah Highway, around 5.30pm.

It was actually the first time I’ve eaten there. I’ve stopped by a couple of times before but they’ve not been open – it’s been the wrong time of day.

I was looking forward to this as I am quite a fan of good BBQ food, and I wasn’t disappointed.

There is plenty to choose from, and you can eat as much as you like for just over twelve bucks for an adult.

I particularly enjoyed the ribs, with the yellow mustard sauce, and the collards were good too!

We had quite a good turn out, and although I didn’t do a head-count, I think about 15-16 people turned up.

Bessingers doesn’t serve alcohol, and as a few of us felt we ‘d like a beer or two after all that food, we decided to head to a nearby bar.

So, a few of us headed along Savannah Highway to the Triangle Bar, where we had a couple of beers, and did some Brightkite Synchronization, while we washed down the BBQ!

Jared and I were photographing each other photgraphing each other with our Blackberries.

It was certainly a fun event, and hopefully one that we will repeat again in the very near future!
