National Showcase
The Surface Unsigned National Showcase will be a 2-day festival showcasing the best 16 up-and-coming unsigned bands from the Surface Unsigned Festival 2009 over the week-end of 26th/27th Sept 09 @ The IndigO2. This is your chance to see some of the finest live unsigned music from across the UK! The event will showcase the best 16 bands from over 12,000 applications. It is the climax of over 250 nights of live music in 7 months!
Sat 26 Sept: 14+; Doors open 5.30pm; live acts 6.00pm – 11.00pm.
Sun 27 Sept: 14+; Doors open 3.30pm; live acts 4.00pm – 9.15pm; results and prize giving 9.30pm.

The Surface Unsigned Festival is the only national live music event that brings unsigned bands and artists to the attention of all aspects of the music industry. Surface Unsigned is a festival of new music held throughout the country in aid of discovering and promoting new talent. The Festival is the largest event of its kind and is a major event in the unsigned music calendar. Surface Unsigned are working in association with Marshall, Kerrang, Zildjian, Tama, Evans, Planet Waves, Ashdown, D’addario, PMT, Univibe Audio, Music Live, Entertainment Distribution Company (EDC), Shure Distribution, Surface Digital, Backstreet Merch and Oxjam to develop alternative ways for bands to gain exposure and develop their fan base.
Prizes
The 2009 Festival commenced in February 2009 and included over 250 nights of live music held in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and Cardiff. The 16 bands that are playing at the National Showcase will perform in front of a committee of music industry experts. At the end of the showcase Surface Unsigned and our sponsors are on hand to provide prizes, recording and production deals, professional photo shoots, cash and endorsements worth in excess of £30,000.
The 2009 Band of the Festival will receive:
• £5,000 Cash
• 40 hours multi-track recording and 25 hours rehearsal (spec: DDA AMR24 mixing console, Apple mac Quad Core, Logic Studio 8, Westlake BBSM8 full range monitors, Focusrite Class A preamps, EMO professional power distribution)
