NORTHAMERICANBROADCASTING.COM will join web radio stations across the country on June 26, 2007 in support of a “Day of Silence†in protest of the recent Copyright Royalty Board decision that greatly increases the cost of streaming music to the public.
NAB Radio will participate in next Tuesday’s “Day of Silence†to draw attention to the newly proposed royalty rates that threaten to crush web radio. NAB Radio serves folks throughout the USA, and the rest of the world It streams a wide variety of music 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on average 350 songs per day with minimal commercial interruption. By joining in the “Day of Silence,†NAB’s CEO, Russ Downing, said, “We hope that our silence on Tuesday, and that of other web radio stations will alert streamers that silence is all you will have on the Internet after July 15th if the CRB order stands.†Downing said the station will be silent from midnight Monday to midnight Tuesday resuming its programming on Wednesday.

The proposed legislation bears H.R. 2060 in the House and S. 1353 in the Senate. “Please let them know you support it, and more importantly urge your senators to support it and sign on as co-sponsors,†said Downing.
