Started out in 1935 as the Plaza, a cinema owned by the Croneen family, who still own numerous houses around Gillingham, and also had some jewelers shops in Gillingham High Street .
Became TVS studio, where they made a number of spin offs of the Muppets, and then became Quasar, a laser quest place as you say above.
Building pulled down and this supermarket built and opened in 2003

I live a couple of houses up, and I've seen the entire history of this site. In my opinion, it's at it's best use now.

I saw Pinocchio in the Plaza. It ended its days showing mostly X-Rated movies. Never went in there when it was the TV Studio though, nor as Quasar.
Waited in anticipation of the store opening, as I was living a few doors away myself at at that time, but due to the usual delays on anything actually useful getting developed in Gillingham, I'd moved before it finally opened its doors as Aldi.

There used to be a cinema here I think then it turned ito a laser quest kind of place. I worked in Kingsly House a few years ago which is just round the corner from here.
