The Eye

Wednesday. Kathy calls it hump day. Downhill until the weekend she says. A way to get through the week I guess, if you’re having a bad one, but I’ve never really seen a week as something to be endured. Well, perhaps sometimes.

For most of my working life I’ve worked all different days of the week, indeed all hours of the day and night. I’ve never truly been used to a Monday - Friday, 9-5 routine, and I think it’s a bit too late to think about settling into one now!

I’ve been oversee a major server move for a client, so there has been some issues to deal with. It’s not been helped by a lack of patience and understanding by some of the ‘management’ at this client, who don’t understand how things work behind the scenes.

Touch wood,  it all seems to have gotten sorted now. DNS has fully propagated, and some email issues have been resolved.

I’ve not been 100% pleased with the support from the hosting company, but then again, I’ve not been pleased with the confused and messy way the client has put the whole project together.  Management are supposed to manage and not just interfere - but that comes with knowledge, which, quite simply, with this client, they don’t have in most IT areas.

Later today, I get to go out for a while to see a new prospect, so at least for a part of today, I get away from my desk!

For now, I shall take five, and get myself some more coffee!
