I think it is in very bad taste to be slagging the poor old London Underground. Mind you, old Red ken, had some good ideas which were scuppered by Thatcher in 1984. His ideas, which cut the fares and increased the service, but increased taxes, led to some 11% fewer fatalities and serious injuries on London’s roads.
However, Bromley Council, Lord Denning, and Sir Horace Cutler (Ken Livingstone’s arch-enemy) won the day.
Then the Tories had the bright idea of breaking up the GLC, and then breaking up London Transport, which is something the new Labour Tory Party has continued since.
