So five reasons why I blog….

  1. Although I disliked writing at school, and vowed to never write another essay, I discovered that it’s not the writing I dislike, but using a pen. However, nowadays I can use a keyboard, and whilst I’d never pass an RSA or Pitmans examination with any real speed, I’m fairly competent on a keyboard, and touch type in my own style (more than two fingers!) most of the time. So #1 reason, is I want to write stuff.
  2. I like making notes of what I’ve done, or how I felt perhaps, and then looking back over it later on, much like reading one’s own old diaries.
  3. I like the interaction with other people. It’s good to get comments of course, one to know folks are reading my drivel, and secondly, it can stimulate discussion and argument.
  4. This can lead onto friendships. I’ve got online friends going back 16-17 years now, back to Amateur bulletin board days. Sometimes online friends can become so much more of course, can’t they Kathy?
  5. It’s something to do. Not that I don’t have plenty to do as it is, but as I work with computers all day, it’s nice to have something to do on a computer that isn’t computer-related. Just on a social level. I like the whole Web 2.0 thing, the social networking.

  • We are a lot alike in the respect, that it is the handwriting that had discouraged me. It's been a long time, since I've hand written a letter. They say it is informal to send someone a typed letter but if they need to hear from me, it's doubtful, it will be anything but.

Thanks for being a sport and doing the meme, we get to know each other better, eh?
  • I totally agree with your points above. Anyone gets a letter from me, is going to get a typed letter. Having said that, the only time I'm going to mail a letter to someone would be if they don't have email (aside for formal business contracts).

I guess it's an art that has largely died out, but as long as folks keep communicating and interacting with each other, that's the most important thing.

  • I agree. At least you're trying right?

Now, I figured you're still be asleep, since you were up till or after 3 reading but I've posted something for you on Babs Bitchin. You've probably already seen it.
  • I tend to have nights that are too late too often, but I seldom lie-in past 9.30 at the very latest.

Hi there, Eyebee - guess what?! I discovered that I've already done this one!

At first I thought that my reasons for blogging might have changed over the past few months, and found it interesting that, alhough there's been a bit of evolution in what parts of blogging I'm finding most fulfilling right now, the basic reasons remain the same -- and very much like your own reasons!

Except, I do have to say that I've never had that difficult relationahip with handheld writing implements...

Anyway, so what I've done is updated my original Five Reasons piece (at http://domestikgoddess.com/i-blog-therefore-i-am/) to include a link back to your post here, in lieue of...

Hope that's okay by you? :-)
  • p.s., it is at (let's see if I can sneak this past your spam cop by sticking in an extra forward-slash here) http:///domestikgoddess.com/i-blog-therefore-i-am/ if you want to have a look at my Five Reasons...
  • Hi EyeBee!

How lame am I? I just read this post of yours!

Hmmm. Seems like I've got some thinking to do...
