Mike ReidMike Reid, the actor and comedian most famous for his role as EastEnders’ Frank Butcher, has died aged 67.

Reid, who suffered a suspected heart attack, passed away at his home in Spain.

The actor was in the middle of working on a feature film and had not shown any signs of illness before the attack, according to his agent David Hahn.

“Mike was in fine fettle form. Only a couple of weeks ago we were having dinner over here and Mike that particular day went to see his consultant, had a full medical and they gave him a clean bill of health,” he said.

I remember Mike Reid, as a stand-up comedian, long before he became a house hold name in the BBC TV soap, of which I was not a fan.

Thanks for the above. How life is so precious and how we must take every day as a present and live life to the fullest.

I will personally miss Mike. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to see him do live, stand up comedy. BUt I will forever remember his years on East Enders as well as all the voice overs he has done for television – far too numerous to mention them all! Thanks Mike for making TV a better place! Thanks for your comments Ed.

I remember well his shows on “The Comedians” on ITV in the 70′s. I also had a Video tape at one time that was far far nearer the knuckle than the TV ever was, but still immensely funny, unless you’re easily shocked of course.
