26 Nov 08 Opposing Viewpoints

I hate to see partisan politics. I think it does a country no good at all. It all becomes about oneupmanship, and scoring points off the ‘other party’ instead of working together to repair the issues at hand.

What seems to have sunk the GOP this time around, is the narrow-mindedness of many, the one-issue crowd, and the total lack of tolerance to anyone elses viewpoint to their own. No one has all the answers, no one is ever correct all the time, and while I’ll respect the fact that you might have a different view to me on a particular issue, I’ll hear you out, and listen to your stance, and I might even learn something. Not to do that, means I am failing on a possible opportunity to enrich my life in some way, by learning why you have an opposing view to me.

All politicians, and their respective supporters, would, in my view, do well to remember this.
