Save energy by underclocking your PC

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 20 minutes

I like getting faster performance out of a system, but two compelling advantages can make underclocking your hardware an even better idea: energy savings and heat reduction. Sure, the energy savings is small, but it could make a real difference if everyone did it. A slower CPU means lower temperatures, and that translates into quieter fans.

“I’m tingling with the idea…    this kind of crap just floors me!”

What am I thinking, I could add this to my list of services offered. I hear it now “..excuse me ma’am, would you like for me to slow your computer down to help save the planet, lower energy cost and give you more time for texting?”
