That’s what the house is like. Full of hot air.
Last week the air conditioning decides to quit working when it’s 90+ outside. Typical.
Anyway, along comes the engineer on Friday, and says that we need some Freon in the unit outside. He fills it up, and away he goes. House starts to cool down a a little – at one time it was 95F in here, with all the doors and windows open and fans blowing.
Saturday morning it didn’t seem that cool really, the temperature inside was 79F,even though the thermostat was set at 72F. Went out all day, came back around 6pm, and the temperature in here was back up to 87F.
The unit outside was not running.
Lots of people got phone calls and emails last evening, but of course, there won’t be even any kind of response until Monday, and hopefully a return visit from the engineer.
It’s OK in here right now, as it’s only 75F outside, and all the fans are running, and the doors and windows are open. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts, as it’s back to the 90′s by mid afternoon.
It’s going to be a warm Sunday!

A Lucian Freud painting of a sleeping naked woman has sold in New York for $33.6m, and sets a new record.
I knew I was doing something wrong. Now, all I have to do is work out how to set up lights when She Who Must Be Obeyed has gone to sleep, so I can paint her. If I remember to turn off the air conditioning first, she might even be in the required attire.
However, dear reader, there is no fear I would post my resulting work here. No Siree, I’ll be heading north up I-95 as fast as I can to see how many millions I can raise in The Big Apple.

Even in the last few days here, it’s gotten noticeably warmer. The current 10-day forecast shows no day’s maximum temperature under 80 degrees, and the lowest nightime minimum at 58F.
Only a couple of weeks ago, we woke up to a few early morning temperatures only just hovering above freezing point.
I think that it won’t be many more days before I have to look at switching on the air-conditioning. I always leave it as long as possible, because usually once it’s switched on, it stays on for the rest of the season, and the electricity bills go up in August to about 2.5 times what they are in the early months of the year.
Recently, we had a new roof installed, and ridge vents were added, which was supposed to make it cooler especially upstairs, but it’s actually made no discernible difference at all – not that we didn’t need new roofs though!
Still, I love the summer myself, and I’m glad there is almost never any snow in these parts!
