The Lost Abbey & New Belgium for Rare Beer Tuesday (6/26)
Tuesdays at 5pm is the time they save to tap an even-more-extra-special-than-usual keg for growler fills and this week they have a real duesy! A collaboration between two extraordinary breweries, The Lost Abbey and New Belgium, this rare treat’s name suggests a bit about its nature. “Brett Beer” (as it is called) is fermented with wild Belgian brettanomyces yeast and weighing in at 7.5% ABV. “Brewed simply with pale malts accompanied by Target, Centennial and Sorachi hops for a hint of citrus. Focusing on their mutual respect for the ingredient, the spotlight shines on the brettanomyces, where a full brett fermentation offers bold pineapple overtones and funky, sour edge. The beer is a shining, golden shade and is warming and dry”. As you may know, in South Carolina they do not normally receive anything from The Lost Abbey so thanks to this special collaboration they are fortunate to catch a brief window of opportunity to try something of their creation. Released through the special “Lips of Faith” Series by New Belgium, this limited beer will be available in all three size growlers (32oz, 64oz, 128oz) on a first come first serve basis. Don’t miss this one!
Beer School in the Kudu Courtyard Continues! (6/26)
Last week’s sold out, inaugural “Beer School” class was a phenomenal success with a wonderful (and educational) time had by all! They have a few open spots remaining for tomorrow night’s class in the Kudu courtyard! From 7pm to 9pm, Professor Brandon “Old Time” Plyler will lead an exploration of Ale vs. Lager which he has coyly titled “Everything You Know is Wrong”! Reservations are quite limited and required so call them at (843) 577-5446 to reserve your place for this or any of the upcoming additional classes. Check out the rest of the course schedule here. Single classes are $25 each and include all beers to be sampled.

Sierra Nevada 30th/CBX 2nd Anniversary Weekend
To celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of The Charleston Beer Exchange and the 30th Anniversary of Sierra Nevada (which are on the same day!) we are throwing an all out Sierra Nevada celebratory weekend at CBX! To start, we’ll be kicking things off tomorrow morning (Saturday 11/13) at opening with Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale and Pale Ale on the growler station for only $7.99 per fill and every fill will come with a Sierra Nevada pint glass – absolutely free! Of course we can only offer this while supplies last but we’ve got a good amount to kick things off. We’ll also have Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere Harvest Wet Hop Ale on the growler station and the free glass offer still applies! We’ll have plenty of Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary coasters to giveaway too! We’ll keep this going as long as the beer lasts. Come early to ensure you don’t miss out.
On Monday (November 15th) it will be the actual dual anniversary day and for this special day we’ll be tapping all four of the special Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary release beers on the growler station simultaneously! This will be an amazing opportunity to pick up growlers of these very limited releases including “Fritz & Ken’s Ale” Imperial Stout, “Charlie, Fred & Ken’s Bock” Imperial Helles Bock, “Jack & Ken’s Ale” Black Barleywine, and the highly anticipated, just released “Our Brewers Reserve” Grand Cru Ale. Each one of these beers commemorates some of the founding fathers of the American craft beer renaissance and each one scores ratings nearing the perfect 100 point mark. Anybody that buys all four of the special anniversary growlers on Monday will receive an extra special, beautiful Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary commemorative snifter style glass. These are super limited!
