13 Aug 08 Charleston 21st Century Photography Group
A good evening indeed. It was our first meeting with this new photography group, but as photography is something I’ve been interesting in, since I was a boy, I thought this would be a great opportunity to meet some like-minded people and swap stories and ideas.
I wasn’t wrong. When we got there, we found about a dozen or so folks there already. The server was very attentive, and took orders for drinks, and then a little later for food.
We’d already eaten dinner at home before we came out, so we just had an appetizer – some stuff grape leaves which were very good, and some unsweetened tea.
Then we started the show and tell, where members bring in about 10-20 photographs on the theme of the month, and Eugene shows them on his projector, so we can all share. There were some good humored moments during that with some laughs and witty remarks – mostly made by the person who’s photographs they were.
Kathy got chatting to Mary, who was also attending her first group meeting. She’s from Moncks Corner, and came with her husband Tom. It turns out she has the same camera model as Kathy – a Canon Powershot A580!
I got talking to Robert, and Eric and a few more of the guys there, and I’m going to explore a web site that runs photographic competitions, and see what I’d be up against.
The meeting closed at around 9.30, by the time, we’d all stood around chatting to each other. I’m looking forward to going to the next one.

It’s a cloudy day here today, and it’s a bit cooler too. It’s just after midday here, and it’s only 66F outside. This morning I’m doing some long over due computer housekeeping – moving files, getting rid of old stuff that’s no longer required, backing up some other stuff, and and removing duplicates from Image and Music Libraries. I’ve got around 10,000 photographs taken over the last 5 years or so, and around 85,000 mp3s, which are always increasing as I get send CDs for the radio stations.
Off to a Christmas party this evening, which should be a good evening out, it certainly was last year. Always end up getting invited to two or three all on the same evening, that’s the only thing. We’re planning a little get-together ourselves here for New Year’s Eve, as it went very well last year.
I shall march onwards with this re-organization here, although I don’t think I will get it all completed today somehow.
