- I know it’s a pretty common item in this list, but that first cup of hot freshly made coffee is always so good. Somehow it always tastes better than any other cup I have throughout the rest of the day.
- It’s a nice day here. Currently, at 11am, it’s 65F outside. That’s OK. If it didn’t get any colder than that all winter, I’d be a real happy camper.
- I have a list of “stuff” to do this morning. Some for others, some for me, some for money, some for free! Heck, perhaps I should take up writing poetry.

I have always felt fall to be a mixed blessing. It can be a beautiful time of the year in certain areas with the gold, and brown leaves falling off the trees. When I worked on the railroad, it was a huge curse, as the leaves got ground into a slimy mulch by the train wheels, and it became akin to driving on black ice. At times you could lose all traction, which caused many problems when trying to stop, particularly with the newer lighter units.
Here, in the south, the daytime temperatures are still into the 80’s. At night it’s generally getting a little cooler, down into the mid 60’s which means some savings on the electricity bill, as we can turn the air conditioning off for twelve hours or so at night, and into the next morning.
The evenings are getting shorter too. I’ve always enjoyed the longer days of summer, even though here that not as long as further north; it does mean the winter ones aren’t so short either.
