Lowcountry Bloggers Meetup We all met up at Bessingers BBQ on Savannah Highway, around 5.30pm.

It was actually the first time I’ve eaten there. I’ve stopped by a couple of times before but they’ve not been open – it’s been the wrong time of day.

I was looking forward to this as I am quite a fan of good BBQ food, and I wasn’t disappointed.

There is plenty to choose from, and you can eat as much as you like for just over twelve bucks for an adult.

IMG00323 I particularly enjoyed the ribs, with the yellow mustard sauce, and the collards were good too!

We had quite a good turn out, and although I didn’t do a head-count, I think about 15-16 people turned up.

Bessingers doesn’t serve alcohol, and as a few of us felt we ‘d like a beer or two after all that food, we decided to head to a nearby bar.

Jared W SmithSo, a few of us headed along Savannah Highway to the Triangle Bar, where we had a couple of beers, and did some Brightkite Synchronization, while we washed down the BBQ!

Jared and I were photographing each other photgraphing each other with our Blackberries.

It was certainly a fun event, and hopefully one that we will repeat again in the very near future!

03 Jan 09 Early Morning Charleston Waterfront

Sailing I’m so not an early morning person. I do what I have to do, but mornings are not my favorite time of day. However, I knew this would possibly be a good photo opportunity, so I said yes to the meetup, and set my alarm for 6am.

By the time I woke up, got washed dressed and made some breakfast and coffee it was 6.35.

Saturday mornings the traffic from North Charleston going downtown is very light, so we made it on time OK. Also there was plenty of nearby space in which to park.

Boats We stayed about an hour and a half and took a number of photos, a couple of which I have posted in here. To see the best of the rest, you can see them in my flickr albums; the link is at the top of the page.

It was foggy out across the Cooper River this morning. The Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge was not at all visible when we got there, but after a while it started to clear, and by the time we left you could see across the river to Mount Pleasant,  USS Yorktown, and the Marina.

The fog made for a number of interesting shots, not least the boat one at the top of this post, which was sitting just out in the river from the end of the Waterfront Park pier.

It really was an enjoyable photo session, and I worked up quite an appetite for breakfast afterwards!

Very soon, I’m going to need to get a database together to track all the social networks I’ve joined. Let me see, if I can even remember then all….

There’s Twitter, Plurk, Seesmic, YouTube, FriendFeed, Library Thing StumbleUpon, Digg, Del.icio.us, Ma.gnol.ia, bebo, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, Picasa, BrightKite, Last.fm, ILike, Flixster…. and more I can’t remember off the top of my head right now.

You know, I’ll never be bored when I retire, I’ll have so many by then, I can spend my whole day, posting stuff everywhere, to everyone, about… well nothing at all for the most part.

You see, although services like IM, and Twitter and Plurk have their uses, and can be used in a more serious way if you wish, they’re also great for simply passing the time of day, having a chat, exchanging idle gossip and so on.

I suspect some folks concentrate on one or two of these services, and take little notice of the others. I find I tend to use chat type apps, or where I can write something, more, much more, than video based services such as YouTube. Then again, I’m not very visually stimulated really. I watch very little television, seldom watch movies, and only really go into YouTube, when someone sends me a link, or the very occasional wander in myself, usually when I’m looking for a music video to watch.

I guess before long I’ll have to do a “stocktake” on some of these services I’ve joined, and either make a bit more use of a few of them, or toss them out….
