I thought I’d play with it for a while, but I always end up treating this type of app as a bit of a toy. However, I tried out the KDE text to speech manager in Ubuntu, and it’s a lot better than anything I’ve heard so far.
It’s not perfect by any means, but the voice is more realistic that anything I’ve heard before, and not nearly as robotic as previous ones.
I don’t know if I will leave it on, but at the moment I’ve got it set up in Akregator to read News Articles. Time will tell.
