Sometimes, just sometimes, I can almost relate to those folks that shun the technological gadgets and gizmos we have. I won’t say it’s a new thing, as it isn’t – every age considers itself to be modern, and cutting edge. The Romans surely did, and the Victorians certainly did.

But sometimes, when I read about cellphones, wi-fi, PDAs, VOIP, video, online radio, and everything all rolled into one; and then go on to read all about the programming and new developments that are going into making it all happen, it’s then I think back to the 70’s, when life was so much simpler. You wanted to listen to music, you took a ‘tranny’ with you. No, not a cross-dresser or sex change hopeful – a transistor radio. Kids will look at you like you’re an alien, when you explain that we only had 3 channels to watch on the TV< and it was black and white, and a 19 inch screen was quite a decent size. Oh, and you couldn’t video anything, as although video recording was actually invented in 1950 by Ampex, it didn’t filter down into the average home until the mid 1980’s.

I’m sitting here with three computers, and five screens. When am I? In the office? No, at home in the bedroom.

Well, there’s one pleasure I’ve enjoyed all my life, and I’m not going to stop now.

I’m going to go to bed, and get tucked up with a good book. Goodnight.
