I was sitting here thinking. I quite often do that. In our wild, fast, noisy world, I value quiet time. Time when I can just enjoy the calm.
I got thinking that sometimes, and particularly in our super high speed wonderfully interconnected online world, that we’re all so busy trying to make our own voices heard above all the other millions, that we really don’t listen to anyone else, and even when we do, sometimes we can’t really hear anything meaningful above the cacophony of it all.
Most all of us have got friends, even those of us that say we haven’t have usually got someone somewhere we can talk to, reach out to, share our secrets with.
I was just sitting here though, doing that thinking thing, in the peaceful quiet of the morning, with nothing to hear but the quack of the ducks on the lake out back, and the hum of the computers in here, and do you know what I think?
I think that sometimes the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had.
