So Sad. This was truly the passing of an era. All we have now are characterless boxes.
The Routemaster was purpose-built for London. It’s not just that they’ve been around for so many years (which is a testament to their suitability in itself), but they have so many personal memories too.
Running for the last #9 at Hammersmith Broadway at around 2am or a 4 mile walk home.
Having too many beers and getting off the #72 at Barnes Bridge a bit before it stopped. Bloody hurt that, but my mother was more concerned about the hole I’d ripped in the knee of my trousers, that’s she’d bought for 50p in the charity shop that week!
