Americans had command of over half of the world’s manufacturing capacity, and also generated over half of the entire planet’s electricity.
The United States had over two-thirds of the gold stocks in the world, and half of all its monetary reserves.
It produced twice as much gasoline as the rest of the world combined, and had the world’s largest fleet of merchant ships.
